PHOTOGRAPHY: MARTHA GABRIELA DRIESSEN, A MEXICAN PORTRAIT

MARTHA GABRIELA DRIESSEN was born and raised in Mexico City and has lived half her life in the United States. Bilingual and bicultural, she is established in Minneapolis yet he has maintained deep roots with her native Mexico and strong ties with her people. She is an active participant in the workshops of Magnum photographer Nikos Economopoulos, a strong influence in her work and has participated in various collective exhibitions including “Día de los Muertos - A Spiritual Legacy” at the National Museum of Mexican Art and a 2016 Photography Bienal in Berlin. She currently has a solo exhibition of “A Mexican Portrait” at the Nan Yang Academy of Art in Singapore. Her work is in the collections of the Minnesota History Center and the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago.
